My absolute aspiration in life is to become a professional yacht interior designer. Often when people ask ‘so, what do you want to do with interior design’, I can’t help but enjoy their sense of of surprise when I tell them, ‘super yachts’. As I am studying at a specialized interior design school, I’m surrounded by other creative people and love to hear about their dreams but have never met someone with the same goals as me.
Yacht interior design is slightly more complex than one would think. For starters, the yachts are often privately owned if they’re having specialized designers create their interiors. This naturally would classify the boats as residential interior design projects, which they are but their, dare I say, limitations and standards follow the regulations of commercial design. This then sets the designer up with a strict list of guidelines to follow but also sets and exciting challenge.
